Starting Solids Comprehensive Evaluation

Designed for infants beginning the transition from breastmilk or formula to solid foods (typically around 6–12 months). This evaluation supports the development of safe, confident, and positive early eating experiences.

This evaluation is ideal for families who are just starting solids, feeling unsure how to progress, or noticing challenges with acceptance, gagging, or coordination during early feeding.

During this comprehensive evaluation, we assess:

  • Medical and developmental readiness for solids

  • Oral motor skills for feeding

  • Postural control and positioning for safe feeding

  • Sensory responses to new textures, tastes, and temperatures

  • Early chewing skills and progression of textures

  • Self-feeding readiness and motor skills

  • Mealtime routines and caregiver–infant interaction

Following the evaluation, you will receive a personalized written care plan with clear guidance on:

  • How to safely introduce and advance textures

  • Food choices and preparation ideas

  • Positioning and equipment recommendations

  • Strategies to support skill development and reduce stress at mealtimes

This plan can be shared with your healthcare provider to support coordinated care. Ongoing support is included through secure online messaging.
